Safe Haven desperately needs your help. With the cold weather
and the over abundance of animals that came in to the shelter in December and January there is hardly any room to work on
the building. We need some water pipe repair, some electrical receptacles installed, rubber matt put down
in kennels and many other odd jobs done at the building. If you are close by or even are able to drive to help out we
could use even a few hours of your time to help make the dogs and cats more comfortable.
If you are handy with tools or have a special talent we would love
to have you come out to the shelter and help out. The building can be a place for these homeless animals to stay with
food, water, a dry bed and some attention until they find their permanent homes. But it takes a lot of work and
we really need anyone willing to give a few hours of your time to make sure these homeless animals have the necessary
lighting, heating and water. There is much to do to get the building into shape and any time you can give would
be much appreciated. Even a few hours to spend with a dog that needs some special attention would be a great service.
Take them for a walk or just give them a kind word. Please consider helping out, it means a great deal to the dogs and
the people who are trying to help them.
Don't Buy while so many die! ADOPT!
Indoor kennels are in place and all the dogs are inside! The rubbermatting
arrived and we are ready to put it down in the kennels. With so many dogs inside it is difficult to work on the building
and kennels but that has to be done. If you have old blankets, towels, bedding or anything that can be put in the dog
houses to make the dogs / cats more comfortable and would like to donate them please contact 304-369-7283 Donations
Coordinator.

Still need signs for the building and to post at the end of the street. The one large outdoor run is
now up and the dogs are getting out every day to get their exercise. Soon we will start the effort to pressure
wash and paint but for now we are waiting on the large windows and the exhaust fans which should be in soon.
The additional space we thought would be available has been taken up with kennels and new dogs, puppies, kittens and
cats coming in daily.
Since February of 2008 we have fostered the dogs and cats in private homes and have had limited space
to take the ones that were in desperate need. With the addition of this building we will have the space to take
in dogs and cats from both county operated pounds in Logan and Boone county as well as the stray and abandoned animals
that also come from Lincoln and Mingo counties.
Check back for updates and if you are able to help or would like to donate materials or support please contact Trish
